Hatteras Sailing Center:

Located in Buxton, we were able to secure a very good location in 2021 with commercial c3 zoning, highway frontage, parking, boatramp, docks and a building that was in disrepair, but possibly able to be improved.

As with many things on small island communities, there were poorly laid property boundaries creating a block for us to repair the building and improve the ramp and docks.  After 2 years of legal back and forth with the adjacent property owner, we cleared the boundary issues and greatly improved the potential for the property to be improved.

Currently we are searching for investors, donors, or partnerships to secure the Sailing Center Property and grow it into a significant maritime training center the community, county, state and National Parks.  With deepwater access to the Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway and Pamlico Sound there is significant potential.

Protected niche on the inner corner of hatteras point

Protected from 3.5 sides from rougher water, waves and seas, this location features lake like calm water at the edge of a 40 mile wide Pamlico Sound because of an inner barrier shoal called the Clam Shoals and Bird Islands.  On the inner side of a 90 degree angle point, there is also protection from the East and the South.  Summer winds prevail from the Southwest which means flat and easy water for on the water training.  Controlling depth averages 6 to 7 feet from the intracoastal or Atlantic Ocean through Hatteras or Ocracoke Inlets.
